Hawaii Helps Disabilities (HHD) On-Line Resource

Database Search disability related services and supports by location or service type.  DisabilitySource.org, created in 2009, will be the most comprehensive database of its kind in Hawaii.  Hawaii Helps Disabilities strives to offer only credible and reliable resources to our constituents; therefore we have employed our network of organizations and collaborated with other disability organizations and professionals throughout the State of Hawaii.  It is because of these collaborative relationships that DisabilitySource.org will grow and be kept current with comprehensive resource listings.

HHD received a phone call from a mother who asked us, “ will you please help me find a Tutor here in Hawaii on the island of `Oahu for my 12 year old son who has Autism?  He is high functioning, an avid reader, his comprehension is good, but his writing is slow and is at a 2nd grade level for math and science”.

The mother also stated, “I would like to higher a volunteer/paid tutor to home school him.  It can be several tutors because I do not want to put him into the public school system.

DisabilitySource.org being a "one stop shop" of sorts is being designed to guide and support people just like the mom mentioned above who needs help in finding a tutor for her 12-year-old son.  80% of HHD is about generating the proper resources to direct people who have disability needs to already established organizations, city and state programs and services.
